Message from David Trone: "In Cumberland yesterday I had the chance to meet with the professionals at Jane's Place, Inc., Allegany County Child Advocacy Center.
Studies show that children in rural areas are almost two times more likely to be identified as victims of sexual abuse. The caregivers at Jane's Place provide trauma-informed and coordinated care to children in Western Maryland to get the best outcome for a child who has gone through an adverse experience.
I'm proud to be a partner in Congress in support of professionals like those at Jane's Place. In May, the House passed my amendment that would help address secondary trauma and burnout within the child welfare workforce. I also worked with both Democrats and Republicans to secure $7 million for the National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative to address trauma-informed care and adverse childhood experiences.
Every child deserves the opportunity for a bright future, and I cannot thank those at Jane's Place enough for their dedication and determination to support those in Western Maryland who need their help."
